Sidewinder Court Case
The Jefferson County Democratic Association is fully in agreement with the Honorable Bridget Cohee in her common sense preliminary finding against the Sidewinder Bottling Plant (Sidewinder Enterprises). Judge Cohee found that Sidewinder’s proposal was not only noncompliant with the county’s zoning ordinance, but that the proposal to extract over 1 million gallons of water per day would have unforeseen consequences for the surrounding communities. Hundreds of community members showed up over a series of meetings (2023 to present) to show a unified front. This decision protects our natural resources, agricultural and historical land, and affirms the power of the people united. The Association thanks those who spoke out and showed up.
Further details about Judge Cohee’s finding have been reported by the Spirit of Jefferson in a Breaking News release on November 10, 1025.
