In Their Own Words

Articles and Position Statements Directly from the Candidates

Each campaign has its own website and social media, but it can’t hurt for the candidates to get their messages out in other platforms, including, of course,  BlueJefferson.org. Candidates who do want to extend their coverage are welcome to submit articles and position statements to us and we will post them in this section. We will be pleased to also reprint articles that have been published elsewhere. Just email us at [email protected] and embed the text in your email. Include in the email message any original location of the article with its publication date.

Video: Lucia Valentine on WRNR Talk Radio

Lucia Valentine faced off with a panel of broadcasters who quizzed her about her positions as a candidate and the concerns she would have as a legislator presenting House District 97.  A large bulk of the conversation centered around datacenters. Her positions recognize the reality of the law, but she is concerned that the law as currently written does not provide the safeguards and transparency needed to assure West Virginians that their concerns are being heard. Her work on the issue in the legislature would be focused on building in those safeguards. Watch and listen to her interview on YouTube.

Video: The Pros and Cons of Datacenters

Jenny Thacker presents her take on data centers, specifically whether they are appropriate for Jefferson County. But, the number of permanent jobs they create are few, especially in consideration of the negative effects of the threats to our ground water and to the cost of our electricity. Those costs will impact everyone in the county. So are are they worth it? Watch and listen to her video the Pros and Cons of Datacenters.
